Approaching Vancouver

This morning, we had breakfast bagels at Empire Coffee, conveniently adjacent to our hotel. We left Nelson around 7:30. We were again treated to beautiful vistas, one after the other:

The landscape began to change, transitioning from pine-covered to desert-like. At one point one side of the road had desert and the other had pine forest. Here's a panoramic shot that captures both sides:

After four hours or so, we came to the town of Osoyoos, which is down in a desert valley surrounded by mountains:

In the mountains surrounding Osoyoos, we saw this house with it's own observatory:

The descent into Osoyoos was steep and had several hair-pin switchbacks. Here's one (note that 40 kilometers per hour is roughly 25mph):

After Osoyoos, the desert continued, but the valleys must have been irrigated, as they were covered with vineyards and orchards:

As we proceeded we returned once again to desert and mountains. Passing through Princeton, BC, we chuckled as we passed a "Badger Crossing" sign. The mountains continued:

Finally, we stopped in Chilliwack, BC and found The Royal Hotel, a historic hotel in the downtown.

Tomorrow, the plan is to head into Vancouver early and spend the day exploring.
