From Madison, WI to Sioux Falls, SD
This morning, we had respectable bagel sandwiches and coffee around the corner from our hotel at Gotham Bagels, and then said goodbye to Madison.
We left Madison at 9:30. Some distance from Madison, after getting onto I-90 W, our GPS presented this mind-boggling sight:
Both Carol and I were surprised by the crossing of the Mississippi between Wisconsin and Minnesota. We were both expecting something like the Verrazano bridge, but it was actually a small set of low bridges connecting the many islands in this part of the river.
Somewhere on our way through Wisconsin, we started seeing odd rock formations like this:
Shortly, all we began to see was cornfields from horizon to horizon. Oh, and these things from horizon to horizon:
Driving through the hundreds of miles of corn, it's hard to imaging the corn production of this country every year.
We arrived at our hotel in Sioux Falls about 5:30, which made it an eight hour drive. However, it was probably the easiest eight hour drive I've ever done in my life. About 90% of the way was dead flat, dead straight, and had a speed limit of 70.
Now we're planning tomorrow's visit to the Badlands and Mount Rushmore.

Making good progress! Don't forget to stop by Wall Drug! :-) I think you will pass enough 'See Wall Drug' billboard signs that it sort of forces the issue out of curiosity! :-) - Scott
